Hungarian President Pal Schmitt presented BGR Managing Director Kurt Volker with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Very nice honor from the Hungarians. The Hungarian government said of Kurt, the former U.S. ambassador to NATO:

AMBASSADOR KURT VOLKER served in Hungary during the 1990s and played an active role in the country joining the NATO alliance. Ambassador Volker through his career has remained a true friend of Hungary, an important supporter of closer Hungarian-American relations and of strengthening the Transatlantic community. Hungarian leaders could always count on his help and his benevolent advice, whether in connection with our active participation in NATO or other international engagements. Now working in the think tank and private sector communities, he continues to play a major role in the presentation of Hungary’s transatlantic commitment and domestic developments. His award is therefore particularly timely.
