Senate Democratic Communications Strategist David Di Martino Joins BGR Public Relations
Washington D.C. May 27, 2008 - BGR Holding, LLC (www.bgrdc.com), the premier government relations, strategic consulting, mergers & acquisitions and investment firm in Washington D.C., today announced its bipartisan strategic communications expertise will further expand when David Di Martino joins BGR Public Relations as Vice President on June 9, 2008. Di Martino was most recently Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director to U.S. Senator Ben Nelson (D- NE) and served on Nelson’s staff for over seven years.
Di Martino brings 15 years of Capitol Hill and campaign communications experience to BGR’s recently formed strategic communications offering. In addition to Senator Nelson, Di Martino has also served on the Senate staffs of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts, Senator Maria Cantwell of Washington and as Deputy Communications Director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

BGR Public Relations is led by Michael Meehan, who was Chief of Staff to Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and formerly served as a senior political and communications strategist for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. David Di Martino will serve as Vice President of BGR Public Relations where he will focus on strategic and crisis communications, issues management and business development. He will use his established experience with the media and message development to help BGR clients develop persuasive communications strategies and media plans in support of policy objectives. Di Martino will also assist in strengthening BGR’s bipartisan government relations capabilities by lobbying House Democratic Members and staff.

Since 2001, Di Martino served as U.S. Senator Ben Nelson’s Communications Director and as his Deputy Chief of Staff since 2007. Di Martino served Nelson in a senior political and strategic advisory role on many issues including tax policy, defense matters, judicial nominations and media relations. Before joining Nelson, Di Martino served as transition press secretary of U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell following her recount victory in the 2000 elections. He also served as press secretary to U.S. Representative Tom Barrett in 1998 and 1999. He served as a professional staff member to the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business in 1997. Di Martino served in a number of roles on the staff of U.S. Senator John Kerry from 1993-1997.
Di Martino has national campaign experience serving in senior communications roles. Di Martino served as a national spokesman and press secretary during the early primaries for Senator John Kerry’s successful campaign for the Democratic Nomination for President in 2004. Also, Di Martino served as Deputy Communications Director for the Senate Democrats’ campaign arm, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, during the 2000 election cycle when nine new Democratic Senators were elected, including Nelson and Cantwell.
